Jean Wilson Day Memorial Undergraduate Research Sympsium
The 2013 Undergraduate Research Symposium will emphasize and encourage significant research in chemistry by undergraduates at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The accomplishments of our undergraduates are numerous, and the 2013 symposium establishes a venue to present and promote this work, while providing a forum for interdisciplinary exchange among faculty, students, and the community. The symposium also provides us the opportunity to recognize and applaud the outstanding academic achievements of our chemistry majors, as well as their dedicated service to both the department and the university.
The poster session will commence at 9:30am and will continue until 11:00am in the Life Sciences Atrium on Busch Campus (adjacent to the Wright-Rieman Chemistry building). The remainder of the day’s events will include the annual Jean Wilson Day Memorial Lecture at 11:00am, which will feature Dr. Ian Shankland, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Performance Materials and Technologies at Honeywell. Dr. Shankland will speak on a topic aimed specifically at an undergraduate audience: The history of CFCs and the development of environmentally improved replacements. Dr. Shankland’s talk will be followed at noon by our Undergraduate Awards Ceremony. These events will take place in the Wright Auditorium, and will be immediately followed by a lunch in the Life Sciences Atrium.
